Celebraties take their masks off!
Earlier this week, I posted a video showing people how our perceptions of beauty are slanted as the media manipulates and distorts models in pictures to give women everywhere a false sense of aspiration on physical appearance. I found it interesting that yesterday on Oprah, celebrities opened up about their personal struggles in regards to unrealistic expectations for their beauty, including Teri Hatcher debuting her video diary of what she looks like when she wakes up vs. what the Desperate Housewives set makes her look like. Additionally, the celebrities on the show also commented about the inflated ego and the false sense of superiority that comes along with their status and how they themselves would look at their airbrushed model photos and then be down on themselves because they no longer look like that- disconnecting from the very notion of airbrushing and putting those same false perceptions of beauty upon themselves!
